1- The secrets of organization`s success.
- People are key to the success of organizations. there can be no organization without people. No matter how healthy its financial status, and no matter how sophisticated a company`s medical equipment may be, people problems can bring an organization down very quickly. So it`s important to realize “ the human side of work”.
- Organization behavior (O.B for short) the field specializing in the study of human behavior in organizations.

2- How behavioral science solve organization`s problem?
- O.B scientists try to solve problems by using knowledge derived from research in the behavioral sciences. “ fields such as psychology & sociology that seek knowledge of human behavior & society through the use of the scientific method.
- Such knowledge is used as the basis for helping to solve a wide range of organizational problems. For example: when and how should people be organized into teams?, what can be done to make people more productive and more satisfied on their jobs?, how should jobs and organizations be designed so that people best adapt to changes in the environment?.
-  These questions are dressed by the field of organizational behavior.
- In this chapter we will introduce you to the field of O.B, its characteristics, its history, and the tools it uses to learn about the behavior of people in organizations.

- organizational behavior is the field that seeks knowledge of behavior in organizational setting by systematically studying individual, group, and organizational processes.
- The scientific method is the best way to learn about behavior in organizations.

4- Why it is important to learn about behavior in organizational setting?
- It varies with different people you ask. Social scientists learning about human behavior on the job.
- Scientists are interested in the effect of people on organizations and the effect of organizations on people.
- O.B specialties try to apply knowledge from scientific studies into practical use, and try to improve the quality of life of people working in organizations, they rely on knowledge derived from O.B research. For example researchers focus on practical questions as:

a- How can goals be set to enhance people`s job performance?
b- How jobs be designed to enhance employee`s satisfactions?
c- Under what conditions do individuals make better decisions than groups?
d- What leaders do to improve the effectiveness of their groups?
e- What can be done to improve the quality of organizational communications?
- We will explain scientific research & theory bearing on the answers to these & dozens of other practical questions throughout this book.

5- What the difference between normal and action research?

- O.B specialists may use their general knowledge to solve organizations problem which (referred to as normal science research) and they may use specific knowledge to solve problems in a particular organization which (referred to as action research).
